OK, that is the owners Juan Toini and Daniel we have been running Mufasa backpackers now for the last 5 years, me thats Juan have lived in Johannesburg all my live and Toini is from Norway Daniel is the best of both countries.
Lets start; we are the first backpackers coming on the N12 from Kruger National Park and the Last Backpacker on the eastern side of Johannesburg coming from the airport towards Kruger Park. That means that there is no Traffic in the morning, you get on the N12 and drive east, no Road works no hold ups. So if you thinking of going with Viva Safaris, Livingstone Trails or Nomad they all pick up here, the Nomad guides and trucks stays here at Mufasa and departs from here to Kruger and the rest of Africa. So before you pay R500 for accommodation somewhere else remember that you get two nights free accommodation going with Nomad, Viva and Livingstone Trails plus a free airport pick up.
We also have a number of day tours departing from here this includes Elephant feeding Rafting Abseiling Soweto and much more.

We have more than 14 years experience in doing tours in Southern Africa, we are not a 5 star hotel but we do give you 5 star service and advice. So if you are looking for good clean accommodation with loads to offer you are at the right place.
Why book wit us? Firstly all the tours depart from here, secondly we are the first backpackers on the way from Kruger Park and thirdly you dont pay any accommodation, so if you dont like sitting in traffick for four hours in the morning or you dont feel like leaving at 04h00 for your tour your at the right place. Ok The N 12/N4 (same highway starts at the border of Mozambique, its goes past Kruger National Park on the Southern side and then continue towards Johannesburg, we are the first backpacker on the eastern side of Johannesburg coming from Kruger, 5 min from the N12. So what does that mean? Let me explain the first pick up is done in the Northern part of Johannesburg for example, then they work they way trough traffic picking up at all the backpackers and they end up here at 8 o clock. So you booked into the hostel on Johannesburg North, you get up at 4 o clock and you spent 4 hours in traffic before you even start heading to Kruger.
Now you make the booking it does not cost you a cent, you pay 20% deposit that is deducted from the final price, you pay the balance to the guide and you get a free airport pick up that will normally cost you in the region of R350.00 depending on where you go, plus you sleep for free that is a saving of already R600.00
We only use companies that is reliable and that do the pickup from here if the tour is booked its booked there is no funny business, I sit here behind the computer all day and confirm the bookings myself by phone.
We are 10 min walk to the bank and shopping centre, 15 min to lakeside mall and 20 min to the airport, We are situated on a small holdings that is in the countryside, no traffic and very calm and peaceful, Twin rooms, free internet, double rooms, dorm rooms bar satellite TV swimming pool and heaps of parking.
What the tours that I am doing is concerned is that I dont believe in Fixed programs, all the tours I have done up to date has been adapted to the clients preferences while on tour, a fixed program with fixed bookings limits your flexibility so I would say for example we go to Mozambique for 7 days, we get in the car and we go, if you want to stop for 1 day in Maputo or 5 days in inhambane we do so as long as we are back on the date that the tour ends. This is some of the best tours I have done
